This past weekend I honored a legend with some besties, we took in the Nora Ephron play that stars Tom Hanks, and “The dude from Law&Order” and “Hannah’s Dad”… just kidding guys, they have real names- I just don’t know them.   The play was PHENOMENAL…as was the meal at ABC kitchen, per usual…. but these things were not important– What WAS important was wandering into http://www.fishseddy.com/ before brunch….

Having just made the cross through the tunnel… it was a welcome chuckle, and turns out- we need some serving items for Pool Season.

They are always inventive over at Fish, but this takes the cake in my opinion. I present “Tunnel Vision”.  Way to help a girl fit in with her new stereotype.  Bravo, to a long time favorite.

 

How can entire state have no taste?

Ok fine, how can an entire state not have OUR taste.    Poking around in the NJ for years now… and all we want is a Nice Mid Century Super Modern house, in a 5 star school district, that you can walk to the midtown direct train and be in NYC is like 20 minutes (when it runs) No biggie right.  Even would take like 2 outta 3 of those, or 1.  None exist.   We loooove Park Slope, and I’m sure our house is like 20 years away, but I still search every night in the middle of the night like a magical listing will fly here from California and land in our lap…. Gotta be where the jobs are right?   Or do we…

Being 78% done with our renovation (Puuuush, Puuuuush)  I still read my blogs and look how to “finish” each room.  Like we really need the giant gold piggy bank, but where will it go??  Ok, more pressing issues than that. but… not much.     It’s been fun going through, selling off, and saying goodbye to great stuff, but I know in the end, with some trial and error (WTH can I get a bathroom non fugly cabinet/shelf?!)  Each room will really sing “Us”, for however long we may be here.  Stay tuned in a couple of months for some severe Before and After shots!   It takes a village people!

Before and after yourSELF.

So I’d call myself creative, crafty, and home decor obsessed…. but I don’t dare call myself handy.   Not that I “couldn’t” be, but I really need a kick in the pants to get about 17 projects done in this place…. I want to redo closets, dressers, paint stuff, sell stuff, buy stuff, possibly have to part with my Grandmother’s 70’s couches…. {scary}

But I want to give our home some edge… like ceiling tins, multipurpose rooms, a nice space for reading my stack of magazines every quarter (Print is not dead like I Say!)

I am going to try and enlist some help so I can get this place into gear… if only we didn’t need actual things done like electrical and “grown up” renos and it could all be brass peacocks and vintage kitchen utensils.

Golden Eye.

Trying to use gold in the bedroom.  Seems elegant, adult, and well… luxurious without being annoying.  I don;t really mean gold… Like an antique brass, linen, and dark grey pallete that says– WE ARE ALMOST IN OUR MID 30’s, and we ain’t scrrrrrrrd.

Sorry loyal readers….but it’s not like people have been at their desks awaiting my posts… they are trying to dig out their cars, take care of their new babies (Hay, Brooklyn!) and doing Holiday aftermath/New Year’s Prep.  You have had enough to do without me telling you what to buy, eat, and in general be caught up on my everyday life.   Lots has been happening, and we are just a few weeks away from a big BEFORE and AFTER reveal of my ongoing design project.  Until then, I still need to sell some Dressers on Craigslist, find danish modern bed side tables, start sending my friend some blogger ideas, get a paint job in the house….and well- the list goes on.  (GOLD BEDROOM LIGHT)  Ack, going off on a tangent.

Trying to create that without having to buy new stuff = HARD.

Anyways… we skipped the holidays all together this year, which was hard and also why I had nothing to say!  BUT, we did it for a good reason, and it worked out for the best (YAY HUSBAND)   in 2011 i plan to blow out every single holiday to the 9’s — so watch out… like EVERY SINGLE ONE.   We even skipped the annual Holiday party this year, so I missed out on seeing people that I only see then…. 2011, I swear.  It’s on.

A touch of Sunshine.

Our kitchen is gutted right now, and empty.  It’s a great way to get perspective.  I purchased two things that I will try and shape the room around… and it’s starting to come together. SweetDee on Etsy, has cute, romantic prints that I just love.

The Light fixture is from Classic Light Fixtures and Restoration Hardware by REJUVENATION which we got a few things from.   They are having a great sale right now, if you are in the Market.

We chose YELLOW because it promotes healthy eating, fast cooking, kitchen fiestas, and general food love and sunshine… So let the ideas flow….
